Founded on May 31, 1963, the Brazilian Steel Institute - IBS undertakes the goal of bringing together and representing Brazilian steel companies, supporting their interests and promoting their development. In fulfilling such attributions, IBS carries out studies and research related to production, equipments and technology, raw materials and energy, market trends, new applications of steel and industrial relations, collects data, prepares and publishes statistics, assists in product normatization, develops programs and policies defined by the sector, acts as representative of the sector before
public and private entities and organs, domestic and foreign, performs public relations activities and keeps in touch with entities alike abroad.

Marco Polo de Mello Lopes, Executive Vice-President Marco Polo de Mello Lopes is the Executive Vice-President of
Brazilian Steel Institute (IBS). Mr. Lopes is also Executive Coordinator of Ação Empresarial, founded in November 1993, with participation in different industries such as Transportation, Commerce, Financial, Agriculture and etc., aiming to fight for the approval of structural reforms in Brazil. Marco Polo is the Infrastructure Counselor of Confederação Nacional da Indústria (CNI), Vice-President of Associação de Comércio Exterior do Brasil (AEB) and Counselor of Quattor Participações.

Rudolf R. Bühler
Rudolf Bühler is the Technical Director of Brazilian Steel Institute (IBS). Mr. Bühler holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and Post-Graduation (MSc) in Production Engineering. Rudolf Bühler is the Regional Secretary of ILAFA in Brazil, Coordinator of Grupo de Mercado do Fórum de Competitividade da Siderurgia do Ministério de Desenvolvimento, da Indústria e Comércio Exterior (MDIC), Counselor of International
Integration of Confederação Nacional da Indústria (CNI) and Member of World Steel Association (WSA) Economic Studies.
